Date: Thurs, July 24th 6:00-9:00, Fri 25th 6:00-9:00; Callbacks Sat 26th 1:00pm-5:00pm. Video submissions will be accepted.

Please note: For all cast members, there will be a $75 participation fee, which helps support production costs and is due upon acceptance of your role.

 

Prepare:

  • 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music, accompanist will be provided.

  • Bring a headshot/resume (if available)

  • Be prepared to read from the script and possibly attend a movement call

  • Accents will be used in the production and are encouraged during callbacks, but not required for the first audition

  • Sides and callback song cuts can be found here

 

REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE DATES:

  • Rehearsals Begin on August 4th. Rehearsals will be held primarily in Wayne, NJ on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30-10:00pm and Sundays from 2:00-6:00pm. Later in the rehearsal process, we will add some Tuesdays and Saturdays. You will not be called to every rehearsal. 


ABOUT THE SHOW:

Jekyll & Hyde is a dark and thrilling musical based on the classic tale by Robert Louis Stevenson. With a soaring pop-rock score by Frank Wildhorn and book/lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, the show explores the battle between good and evil as one man’s experiment unleashes a deadly split personality.


ROLES AVAILABLE: (Ages are indicated only as a guideline, not a requirement). We are planning for a cast of 18-24, including 4-6 featured dancers. There are opportunities for non-singers. 

 

Dr. Henry Jekyll / Edward Hyde

  • Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor Bb2–A4

    • Age Range: 30s–40s

    • A brilliant, passionate doctor who becomes consumed by his experiment to separate good from evil. Jekyll is idealistic and well-meaning; Hyde is violent, seductive, and terrifying. Must be a strong actor and singer with excellent vocal stamina, and the ability to portray two contrasting characters—often within the same scene. This is a demanding lead role both vocally and emotionally. Actor must be comfortable portraying moments of physical violence and psychological intensity.

 

Lucy Harris

  • Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano with Belt G3–F#5

    • Age Range: 20s–30s

    • A vulnerable yet strong-willed woman working as a singer and sex worker at the Red Rat. She becomes entangled with both Jekyll and Hyde, drawn to Jekyll’s kindness and haunted by Hyde’s cruelty. Performer must have a powerhouse voice and emotional depth. Lucy’s journey includes themes of sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence. Performer must be comfortable depicting scenes that involve sexual violence and physical intimidation.

 

Emma Carew

  • Vocal Range: Soprano A3–C6

    • Age Range: 20s–30s

    • Jekyll’s devoted fiancée, graceful and intelligent. Warm, lyrical voice and emotional poise.

 

Gabriel John Utterson

  • Vocal Range: Baritone B2– G4

    • Age Range: 30s–50s

    • Jekyll’s loyal friend and legal advisor. A steady, grounding presence in the story.

 

Sir Danvers Carew

  • Vocal Range: Baritone C3–F#4 (Can be light or non-singing role)

    • Age Range: 50s–70s

    • Emma’s father and a respected statesman. Classy, dignified.

 

Simon Stride

  • Vocal Range: Tenor/High Baritone A2-G4 (Can be light or non-singing role)

    • Age Range: 30s-40s

    • Secretary to the Board of Governors, secretly in love with Emma. Arrogant and jealous.

 

Spider

  • Vocal Range: Baritone/Bass (Can be non-singing role)

    • Age Range: 30s-50s

    • The sleazy and menacing owner of “The Red Rat.” Abusive toward Lucy. Strong presence. Performer must be comfortable depicting scenes that involve violence and physical intimidation.

 

Nellie

  • Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano/Alto (Can be light or non-singing)

  • Age Range: 20s–40s

  • A prostitute and Lucy’s confidante. Earthy, sassy, and streetwise. Featured in ensemble numbers.

 

Poole

  • Vocal Range: Baritone (Non-singing role)

  • Age Range: 40s-50s

  • Jekyll’s devoted butler. Observant, dutiful, and deeply loyal. Strong character actor. Non-singing role or may have minor solo/ensemble lines. 

 

Bishop of Basingstoke

  • Vocal Range: Tenor/Baritone

  • Corrupt church official.

 

Other Members of the Board of Governors

  • Ensemble, various ages, some can be light or non-singing roles

  • Upper-crust people of power. Each has distinct traits and solos during “Façade” and “Board of Governors” scenes. Includes General Lord Glossop, Lady Beaconsfield, Lord Savage, Sir Archibald Proops.

 

Ensemble and Featured Dancers

  • 10–20 performers, all vocal ranges and ages, some can be light or non-singing

  • Roles include townspeople, Red Rat dancers/prostitutes, police, noblemen, and more. Strong singers and actors.

  • The ensemble is vital to bringing this story to life. We are looking for dedicated performers who can bring a dynamic presence to the stage. These are not background roles—there are many opportunities to be featured!
